Welcome to the Thomas Blackshear's Gallery.
Thomas Blackshear became a freelance illustrator in 1982, after working for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, where he met illustrator Mark English, and became his apprentice. Blackshear produced illustrations for U.S. postage stamps, posters, magazines, greeting cards, calendars, books, advertising and collector's plates including "Star Wars", "The Wizard of Oz", and "Star Trek". The artist is also famous for his best-selling Christian prints, and his black figurine line "Ebony Visions". His clients range from Disney and George Lucas Studios to National Geographic.

Blackshear's work has appeared in the Society of Illustrators Annuals, and in Outstanding American Illustrators Today. He has received many illustration awards during his career.

Here you will find other works of Thomas Blackshear outside of Ebony Visions along with work from his Wife Ami Blackshear.

Ami Blackshear's Rainbow Babies were inspired by her beautiful watercolor illustrations. They reflect Ami's faith in God and love for babies and nature.
The idea of rainbow-colored, butterfly-winged babies in a beautiful garden came to her while visiting the Garden of the Gods in Manitou Springs, Colorado. She feels the babies represent a unity and purity of spirit alive in the souls of all children.

Ami graduated in 1978 from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. She began her career as an illustrator for several leading midwest advertising agencies before marrying the multi-talented artist, Thomas Blackshear in 1986. The Blackshears relocated to Novato, California, and Ami began her freelance career illustrating children's books. Her delicate watercolor illustrations appear in Diamonds and Toads and A Child's Book of Angels. Her work has been published by Bantam Books, Chariot Books, Current, Inc., DaySpring, MacMillan-McGraw-Hill and many other publishers. Ami, her husband and her parrot, Rainbow, currently reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
